Memoir, ca. June-Sept. 1944 re one officer's experience landing at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France; the taking of "St. Lo" [Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer], and the injury that sent McLaurin home; includes descriptions of McLaurin's training in Scotland and England. Illustrations and detailed maps include: First Wave Landings (Infantry), First Army Zone (11-20 July 1944), Fall of St. Lo (17-18 July 1944), and others. Also includes images and information re McLaurin's twin brother, Kenneth, whose served as a member of a bomber crew; appendix includes 1945 essay re McLaurin's account of training in Scotland with the 29th Ranger Battalion, which was disbanded prior to the D-Day invasion; and letters from 1st. Sgt. Bohince (18 Sept. 1944); Lt. Dwight Gentry (20 Sept. 1944); Battalion Commander Arthur Sheppe (2 Nov. 1944). Appendix also includes letters of condolence sent to McLaurin's widow, Fay McLaurin, and his brother, Harrison McLaurin, following death of Colin McLaurin in 2001, including letter from Gen. Louis C. Addison (28 May 2001).
